Monday Morning Blues syndrome

“Monday Morning” is the recurring doomsday for a working person. The shrill ringing of the alarm clock in a Monday morning pierces through ones dream world and brings them back to the threshold of a “pre-conceived cursed day”. Once again the trail of lamentations and curses starts…Oh god! Its Monday again…I’m doomed today…why on earth does Monday exist??? Finally, after a lot of thinking and rethinking they creep out of their cozy blanket and drags themselves to the office. In addition, everything happens, as they have perceived in their sulky mood--as the dictum goes, “our perception determines our reality”. Clearly, the world we see and the lenses through which we observe it define experience. Therefore, when we approach Mondays with a negative mindset, we will certainly have Blue Mondays.

Those Monday Morning Blues become worse in anticipation of the so-called “Stinkers”. The pile of a week’s uncompleted tasks earns stinker mails that make Mon-day more miserable. It’s a cyclical process, which occurs on every Monday. Moreover, we all have made ourselves “used to” those dreaded Monday Morning Blues.

Nevertheless, to make those Dreaded Monday Mornings into beautiful, calm morning lies in us. The other day while trying to find a way out of Monday blues, I have come across some useful tips. With a little planning decisions and controlled decisions, Monday Mornings can be the best time of the week. Here are some tips to make Monday mornings a little easier-

  • First thing to do is to recall that old nursery rhyme especially on Sunday nights: “early to bed and early to rise” which will shape Monday morning and day healthy.

  • Saturday night can be used for drinking oneself into oblivion.

  • Shop till you drop on Saturdays

  • Partying again be done on Saturday night, so that we have enough rest to conserve your energy for the next five days

Now things to be done on Monday mornings-

  • To hop out of bed the moment we wake up on Monday morning.

  • To end our shower with a jolt of cold water to dis-ease ourselves out of our diseased lazy mind state

  • Never forget to do exercise on Monday Mornings to release those” Feel-Good” endorphins

  • Drinking Coffee or tea gives us the much-needed Alertness

  • And Ironing our clothes before we go to bed and pack our bags on Sunday night will makes us ready for action on Monday Morning.

For an even better Monday, we should start getting organized on Friday. Annya Ladakh, a stress consultant suggests,” Try really hard to clear desk, if you haven’t been able to do it on Friday, its worth going in on a Monday before anyone else arrives.” Anna also recommends brightening up our surroundings on a Monday morning by placing fresh flowers on our desk.

Further, it’s worth drawing up a to-do list on a Friday. Then on Monday we can directly plunge into action and complete our tasks on time.

To be successful in our rejuvenating program, one thing is very important--Right Attitude. Only with right attitude we would be able to implement these steps into action. James Gladwin, a life coach and author of ‘How to live the life you love and love the life you live’reckons it that more than anything else a change of behavior will help us beat the Monday Morning Blues. With planned decisions we are to plan and implement and by applying controlled decisions we can take corrective measures to mend our routine and make each and every day a blessed day for us. And sing: “Monday Morning Blues

You know I’ll make my dreams come true”.
